Where are all my 90’s kids at? It was a decade that gave us some of the raddest video games in history(in my opinion). It was a decade that brought us the struggle of renting a VHS tape that the person before you didn’t rewind. If you remember that then chances are there are probably pictures of you in a bright neon wardrobe inside an old photo album, hopefully, buried away at your parent’s house. Don’t worry, we don’t have to get into all that. Let’s focus on the good and dig into some of the great 90’s TV shows that you still remember watching today.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Ren and Stimpy, and Rugrats collage

There was the pop culture Bel-Air family, the daily adventures of being a rugrat, and the yellow cartoon family who is perhaps the most popular family in the world. The best way to re-cap these great shows is to watch them again. So with a little help, here are a few of my favorites from our 90s childhood!

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

90's TV

In west Philadelphia born and raised. You know the rest. It’s a classic rhyme. This was for sure a household favorite in my house growing up. Will Smith sets off to Bel-Air to live with his rich Aunt and Uncle. This show was a big start for Will Smith and his successful career, and no wonder why. Fresh Prince will always be a classic TV show that will make you laugh even today. It has truly aged well.

Rugrats

Toddler’s on the move! We bring you adventure from the perspective of the Rugrats gang. This show was one of Nickelodeon’s longest running cartoons and I don’t doubt why. You have your bright colors, lots of creativity, imagination, and exploring! Rugrats was a true childhood favorite and I can even remember having the orange Rugrats VHS tapes!

The Simpsons

Don’t forget your favorite family down in Springfield. Everyone knows about The Simpsons, which was without a doubt the greatest comedy sitcom in the 90’s. The Simpsons delivered creative episodes that include humor in society, politics, history and some even say predictions of the future.

The Magic School Bus

What kid in the 90’s didn’t grow up wishing that they had a teacher like Ms. Frizzle?  TheMagic Schoolbus teaches without preaching. Ms.Frizzle was far from your normal teacher. She took her students on far from usual field trips in her magic school bus. The magic school bus would transform into different objects and sizes depending on the field trip. Just say the magic words! “Bus, do your stuff!”

The Ren & Stimpy Show

Ren, a crazy chihuahua, and Stimpy, a brainless cat,  took you on their bizarre adventures throughout, well, madness, mostly. I remember all the controversy about how it wasn’t really a “kids” show. A lot of people have claimed it inappropriate for children, which is probably true. As an adult, I still to this day find Ren & Stimpy hilarious. It’s somewhat of a cult classic. And at least we can thank them for… “Happy Happy Joy Joy!”

There you have it. Thanks for joining us for a throwback to the 90s and be sure to stop at your local Bookmans to find other great TV titles from decades past.
