Bookmans is a sponsor of Reading Rainbow's 14th annual Young Writers & Illustrators Contest, presented by Arizona Public Media. Children from Kindergarten through third grade are encouraged to create their very own picture book!

Applications for this highly popular contest will soon be available at all Tucson Bookmans locations.

"The Emmy award-winning PBS television series Reading Rainbow invites children to discover books, reading, and the love of learning. The Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Contest extends this mission by encouraging, challenging, and rewarding children from Kindergarten through Third Grade to share their stories by creating their own picture books. 

The Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Contest is meant to be fun – a chance for children to express themselves and to be recognized for their creative efforts.  Prizes for National Level Winners include laptop computers, flat panel TVs with DVD players, MP3 players, and Reading Rainbow DVDs with featured books. All participating children receive a certificate of recognition signed by LeVar Burton of Reading Rainbow. 

Kindergarten through Third Grade children are invited to write and illustrate original story books and enter them in the 14th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Contest. Applications and additional information are available beginning January 2, 2008 from KUAT-TV - Channel 6 and on the Arizona Public Media web site page."
