...and Don Johnson goes to dogs at Grindhouse Redux! Midnite Movie Mamacita presents Shaw Brothers Studios classic Seven Blows of the Dragon and the kinky, post-apocalyptic A Boy and His Dog at the Chandler Cinemas dueler on Nov 30th.
Grindhouse Redux is presented by Bookmans Entertainment Exchange.
Kung Pow! The Midnite Movie Mamacita once more kicks out the jams with two oldies-but-goodies from the Grindhouse Redux vaults on Friday evening, Nov 30.
First up is "Seven Blows of the Dragon" (1972), a chop-socky classic from Shaw Brothers Studio, foremost producer of Hong Kong's most sensational Kung Fu classics of the seventies. A martial-arts retelling of the Robin Hood legend reset in ancient China, the cacophony of glorious feet-and-fists-of-fury will be presented in a rare 35mm print at 9 p.m.
Next, a very young pre-"Miami Vice" Don Johnson stars in the cult sci-fi favorite "A Boy and His Dog" (1975). A futuristic tale of a young man and his telepathic dog wandering through post-apocalyptic Arizona, this dark survivalist comedy (based on a story by genre guru Harlan Ellison) is responsible for igniting the Midnite Movie Mamacita's craving for odd cinema and she is especially elated to share it with the Grindhouse crowd. The post-nuclear cult curio plays at 11 p.m. in 35mm - the way it was meant to be seen!
Admission is $6, cash only, no single feature discounts (no ATM on site). The Chandler Cinemas are located at 2140 N. Arizona Boulevard, Chandler (behind Target).
