        EVENTS: Grindhouse Redux

        BY: MIDNITE MOVIE MAMACITA

Phoenix's local B-movie hostess, in conjunction with Bookmans Underground, ICanSmellYourBrains.com and Ban 1 Productions, presents a Grindhouse double feature on Friday, June 29 at Chandler Cinemas!

Friday, June 29 and the last Friday of July, Midnite Movie Mamacita presents a Grindhouse double feature. The first film screens at 9 p.m. and the second at 11 p.m. at Chandler Cinemas, 2140 N. Arizona Avenue (in the rear of the Target shopping center), at the northwest corner of Arizona Avenue and Warner. Admission is $6 for both films (cash only, no discount given for single film admission, no ATM onsite).

The night will be a celebration of sex and violence, 70s-style, with two racy flicks sure to whet the appetite of exploitation-starved Phoenicians. First to grace the screen is the 1975 Roger Corman classic "Death Race 200." A star-studded cast makes up this absurdly fantastic grand prix cult classic. David Carradine (in a leather jumpsuit) stars as the menacing "Frankenstein," who must race against a stellar cast of opponents in the titular "Death Race." Sylvester Stallone shines as Machine Gun Joe Viterbo (nice eye candy for the ladies), whose objective is to run over and annihilate as many innocent pedestrians as possible in a modern day gladiatorial battle from behind the wheel. As campy as it is violent, this favorite amongst B-movie fans is sure to fill the house!

After a brief intermission, where attendees can replenish their snack supplies at the tasty concession stand, the B-movie madness kicks right back in with sexploitation classic "H.O.T.S." (1979). This female "Revenge of the Nerds"-type story follows the ladies of H.O.T.S. as they take on their rivals in the Pi sorority with an array of amusing and outrageous antics. The film features Danny Bonaduce as Richie Walker, a wannabe stud trying to infiltrate the ladies of H.O.T.S. with varying degrees of failure. The film is light-hearted and has an abundance of skin, which culminates in a "strip football" game. "H.O.T.S." is the perfect T&A finale for those brave enough to endure the double feature.
