Bookmans Entertainment Exchange will celebrate its 30th anniversary this upcoming weekend with Party in the Park, an all-day, outdoor concert at Reid Park on Sat., Nov. 3, 2007. The event will be free, open to the public, and feature live music throughout the day, ending with Calexico and Mariachi Luz de Luna. This is the largest performance internationally-known Calexico has played in their hometown, and ties in with other homecoming events scheduled over the weekend. The show will run from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the final line-up and schedule is now confirmed:
- NOON - 1:30 P.M. Chuck "Wagon" Maulstby and a Few Old Wheels (Tucson)
- 2 P.M. - 3:30 P.M. The Insomniacs (Portland)
- 4 P.M. - 5:30 P.M. Chicago Blues Reunion featuring Corky Siegel (Chicago)
- 6 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. Calexico (Tucson) with Mariachi Luz de Luna, Salvador Duran, and other special guests
In addition to music, the Party will feature local vendor and organization booths, various activities for adults and kids alike, and affordable food and beverages. Bookmans will also be giving away t-shirts and other prizes.
Several Bookmans locations will host special events leading up to and following Party in the Park:
- Music Performance Master Classes with Corky Siegel on Fri., Nov. 2, 2007. Join Corky Siegel of Chicago Blues Reunion, considered one of the world's blues harmonica masters, as he leads two free music master classes at Bookmans Grant from 7 to 8 p.m. and Bookmans Speedway from 9 to 10 p.m. Space is limited. - Book Signing with Corky Siegel on Sat., Nov. 3, 2007. Prior to his set at Party in the Park, Chicago Blues Reunion's Corky Siegel will sign his book "Let Your Music Soar" at Bookmans Ina from 11 a.m. to noon.
- The Insomniacs In-Store Performance on Sun., Nov. 4, 2007. After Party in the Park, Portland's The Insomniacs will perform their unique brand of jump blues at Bookmans Phoenix from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m.
