Bloodbath, Italian-style, with the Midnite Movie Mamacita! Giallo guru's Bird with Crystal Plumage and Deep Red spice up Chandler Cinemas' spaghetti splatter-thon on Friday, June 27th and Saturday, June 28th.
Grindhouse Redux is presented by Bookmans Entertainment Exchange.
Mama mia!
The Midnite Movie Mamacita's Grindhouse Redux goes giallo (that's Italian for "slasher," goomba!) with a rare big-screen Dario Argento double feature. The most stylish and influential director of European splatter cinema, Argento pioneered gore chic in the early Seventies, his blood-drenched thrillers transforming the Italian horror genre into the cinematic equivalent of an explosion in a Chef Boyardee factory.
The Argento bloodbath, to screen June 27th and 28th at the Chandler Cinemas, includes two of the director's most popular films. Uh-oh, spaghetti ooze!
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970) Yank actor Tony Musante and Brit sexpot Suzy Kendell team up in a Hitchcock-ian thriller about a man who witnesses slasher murders at an Italian art gallery. Kind of like what the Master of Suspense might have come up with if he'd filmed Vertigo and Rear Window in Ragu-O-Rama. With music by Ennio Morricone.
Deep Red (1976) The red sauce rampage continues with a mayhem-laced marinara of murder and madness, this time with David Hemmings as a music teacher trying to discover the identity of a serial butcher making ravioli of the citizenry of the Eternal City. Well, when in Rome...get the hell outta Dodge! With music by The Goblins.
