Kung Pow! The Midnite Movie Mamacita kicks out the jams with two oldies-but-goodies from the Grindhouse Redux vaults on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 - Bloody Fists and Dragon Fist Ninja. Both films are presented in classic 35mm, the way they were meant to be seen!
Grindhouse Redux is presented by Bookmans Entertainment Exchange.
First up is Bloody Fists (aka Heroes Two, 1974), a chop-socky classic from Shaw Brothers Studio, foremost producer of Hong Kong’s most sensational '70s Kung Fu classics. The cacophony of glorious feet-and-fists-of-fury will be presented in a rare 35mm print at 9 p.m. (Repeats on Saturday at 5 p.m and 9 p.m.)
Next, a mystery Kung Fu classic, Dragon Fist Ninja (1973). So little is known about this film, and, after much research into the vast and confusing world of Kung Fu Cinema, our best bet is that the film is actually Death Comes in Three, a revenge and post-WWII Kung Fu showdown. Whatever it turns out to be, the Midnite Movie Mamacita and friends are especially elated to share it with the Grindhouse crowd, along with a Kung Fu Fighting dance-off. The mystery film begins at 11 p.m., in 35mm - the way it was meant to be seen! (Repeats on Saturday at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.)
Admission is $6, cash only, no single feature discounts. The Chandler Cinemas are located at 2140 N. Arizona Boulevard, Chandler (behind Target).
