In 2006, the Arizona Browncoats raised over $9,000 for Equality Now - a charity dedicated to ending violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world - as part of Can't Stop the Serenity, a global charity campaign founded and supported by fans of Joss Whedon's Firefly and Serenity. In its inaugural year, the Can't Stop the Serenity effort raised more than $65,000, with 47 cities participating worldwide.

In 2007, the Arizona Browncoats raised over $11,500, with 20% of proceeds from screenings in Phoenix and Tucson benefiting Arizona women's charities GIFT and the Women's Foundation of Southern Arizona, respectively. The other 80% of monies raised contributed to the astonishing $106,000 donated to Equality Now by Browncoats around the world.

I have enjoyed shopping at Bookmans since I lived in Tucson. It has been totally awesome holding the Browncoat shindigs there every month. I was so happy when they began sponsoring the AZ Browncoats and the charity screenings. Every donation helps us reach our goal. Thank you Bookmans!

This event is such an awesome tradition to have during the summer! Not only do fans of "Firefly" and "Serenity" get to revisit their "friends" on the big screen on an annual basis, but each person who attends is supporting a charity that helps those in need around the world. It's very obvious to us fans that Bookmans is just as invested in this effort as we are. Thank you again for helping to make this third year and what we are so passionate about a reality. This support helps to keep us going!

I've been a customer since the modest beginning of Bookmans and I have to say that they rock! Very few companies give back to their communities as much as this company does. They have always been fantastic sponsors and supporters of great charities like Equality Now and community service.
Thanks Bookmans for helping us put on another great event to help people around the world!

I'm not sure more than the first word of my previous comment did not show up. I just wanted to say thanks to Bookmans Entertainment Exchange for being such generous sponsors of our events over the last few years. See you at the shows!
