Bookmans is a proud sponsor of the Educational Enrichment Foundation's Shoe Shopping Day, an annual holiday tradition that benefits over 600 students in the Tucson Unified School District.
Bookmans is sponsoring Shoe Shopping morning on Tues., Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Payless ShoeSource on E. Grant Road, east of Alvernon.
From the Educational Enrichment Foundation press release:
In keeping with its annual holiday tradition, the Educational Enrichment Foundation (EEF) is hosting four Shoe Shopping mornings for approximately 60 of TUSD's students.
Generous donations from Bookmans, Desert Diamond Casino, PICOR and Wells Fargo Bank enable EEF to purchase new shoes and socks for 600 of Tucson Unified School District's most disadvantaged students. Payless ShoeSource provides the Educational Enrichment Foundation with a generous discount, allowing EEF to serve as many students as possible.
"Kids can't learn without a basic foundation," says Wendy Erica Werden, Bookmans' Director of Marketing. "Shoe Shopping Day helps build students' confidence and provides them with the tools needed to fully reap the benefits of their education."
Bookmans donates $2,500 annually to allow EEF the resources to provide shoes for more than 125 children whose family incomes fall at or below the poverty line. The kids are allowed to pick out their own shoes, and Bookmans always donates books for them to take home and enjoy. In 2007, Bookmans was elected to the EEF Hall of Fame Philanthropy Honor Roll for our continued support of Shoe Shopping Day.
