Movie Madness month here at Bookmans is almost coming to an end! To close out the month in style, we are going to give you our top five movie recommendations. Each of these movies came out on DVD and Blu-Ray during the month of August A.K.A. #MovieMadnessMonth. They are also all fairly highly rated according to Rotten Tomatoes, which we all know is fairly hard to do! So take a look at our selections and be sure to add your favorites in the comment section. Happy viewing!

Everything, Everything – Rotten Tomatoes: 45%

This is a story about a girl who has Severe Combined Immunodeficiency. Everything, Everything is a romantic movie about all the things you would do to live an average, normal life and the lengths you would go for someone you love. Maddy, the main character in the movie can’t go outside due to her condition, but risks it all. There is also a super crazy twist at the end of the movie that you never saw coming! Definitely recommend if you are into that lovey-dovey kind of stuff. Also, it was based off of a book of the same name by Erica Yoon. Even better!

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – Rotten Tomatoes: 82%

If you haven’t seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy, you need to stop what you are doing and go watch it NOW! Wait, you’re at work? I don’t care. Seriously, go watch it right this second. BEST MOVIE EVER. Well…I might not go that far, but it’s amazing. When I heard about the sequel I thought, “There is absolutely no way that it will be as good as the first,” but it was actually pretty close and weirdly not disappointing. The team is back at it again, but this time they are single-handedly fighting a planet. A planet? YES, A PLANET! But it all makes sense when you watch the movie, which you are going to go do right now, right? If you like to laugh and you are into people kicking butt and taking names, this is the movie for you.

The Wall – Rotten Tomatoes: 69%

The Wall is as it sounds…a movie about a wall. Except this wall is the difference between life or death. Two soldiers are trapped near this wall because there is a deadly sniper trying to kill them anytime they move. This wall is the only thing protecting them and not allowing the sniper to shoot them dead. We can’t really tell you much more without completely giving away the movie, so if you are wanting to watch a suspenseful, thriller movie about soldiers I’d say this is the movie for you.

Shot Caller – Rotten Tomatoes: 80%

Shot Caller is not the typical bad gangster movie you’d normally expect. It’s about a dad and husband who goes to prison due to an accidental murder he commits and completely changes as a man while he is in prison. This dad becomes a trusted member of a gang in prison to protect himself and is forced to commit crimes. He commits these crimes to remain untouched because the deadliest gang members are protecting him. We also can’t tell you too much about this movie without completely giving it away, but if you like prison and crime movies this may just be the one for you. BE WARNED THOUGH, this movie left me with a feeling of sadness at the end. Also, if you like Game of Thrones the protagonist in the movie is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, aka Jamie Lannister, so that’s exciting.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword – Rotten Tomatoes: 28%

Although the Rotten Tomatoes percentage on this movie is a little lower than the rest I personally really enjoyed this movie. Some parts were somewhat hard to follow towards the beginning, but then everything got really interesting and I couldn’t keep my eyes off the TV. Plus, the main actor in the movie is Charlie Hunnam. If you are a Sons of Anarchy fan, you are definitely a Charlie Hunnam/Jax fan. This movie is about a boy who grows up in the back alleys of the city. Little does he know that he was born a king with power greater than he can understand. With his sword, he is unstoppable. If you are into those fantasy, drama, action-packed films this is a highly-recommend. Unlike Shot Caller, this movie leaves you with a feeling of happiness and revenge at the end.

Well there you have it folks…my five recommended movies from the month of August. Hope you enjoy these as much as I did. Until next time!
