If you couldn’t get enough of Archie’s Weird Mysteries, move over because there’s a new witch in town! Long before the super mega hit that is currently the CW’s Riverdale, even before the magical TV mishaps of Melissa Joan Hart and Caroline Rhea, there was simply Sabrina. Originating in the Archie comics, Sabrina was a teenager who just happens to be a witch. As the DVD Box explains “Sabrina The Teenage Witch is no ordinary girl. She’s the sweetest and sassiest magical girl in all of Riverdale. Teen life is tricky enough, but there can be double trouble when magic is involved. When Sabrina tugs on her earlobe, there’s no telling what might happen. Join Sabrina and her friends, cat Salem, warlock Cousin Ambrose and the rest of the Riverdale gang in all 31 episodes.”

Making her 1962 comic debut in Archie’s Madhouse issue number 22, Sabrina snagged her own comic series in 1971. Her animated counterpart was originally part of Filmation’s  “Archie’s Funhouse.” Sabrina quickly outgrew her occasional guest appearances and she, armed with a a catchy new tune, went on to conjure up her own show and appear guest star also on the “Groovie Ghoulies.” In her animated form, Sabrina lives with her Aunt Hilda and Aunt Zelda (because everyone knows that a witch isn’t allowed to see their parents until their 18th birthday). Just like any other teenage girl, Sabrina struggles with everyday problems like what to wear, high school homework, her relationship to Harvey, and even the high school principal being turned into a frog by her meddling Aunts. What’s a girl to do?
