Not down with all this mushy gushy lovey dovey Valentine’s Day stuff? Fine. We support all forms of holiday celebration including not celebrating at all. It can be a pain in the tookus for those of us without a special someone to spend it with to find the motivation to not get on social media and watch our High School companions get engaged. Luckily, Bookmans doesn’t believe in guilty pleasures (we’re proud of what we like!) and we have everything you need to have an awesome day on your own..so read on and be inspired to #bealone. (Sidenote: we thank our former Content Coordinator Rebecca for contributing some of this content. Kisses.)

valentine's day

This Valentine’s Day we encourage you to step up to the singledom that is your life, and embrace all things you. We bring you our list of how to have a good old fashioned Valentine’s Day for one, here:

-Read a trashy romance novel. Okay, I guess we don’t need to differentiate between trashy and non-trashy romance novels. Any romance novel sounds good, and we have a huge selection to choose from, ranging from cowboy romances to vampires and everything in between.

-Bring your dog to the store, we have treats! It’s so much easier to love an animal than a person. They don’t talk back, they love you no matter what, and they’re fluffy! We love your pets almost as much as you do, so bring ’em on in.

-Watch a tragic romance movie. See Atonement, Romeo and Juliet, etc. This is the best day of the year to watch movies where the couples die at the end. Romantic comedies, Shmomantic shmomedies.

-Binge watch a new TV series. That new TV show all of your friends are talking about that you haven’t seen? We might have it on our shelves. Come see, and spend your day on a comfortable couch with a new show to fall in love with in jammies. With tea. Or wine. And snacks. Lots of snacks.

-Learn a new instrument. We have sheet music and affordable instruments ready for you to expand your creative horizons. Who needs a valentine when you just got yourself a brand new, bright red ukulele? Whats. Up.

-Spend your day sipping on yummy cafe drinks and people-watching. Or bring a board game and some friends and come hang out with us! We love to see your shining face any day of the year, Valentine’s Day is no different! We’re waiting.
