Bookmans News

Adam Yeater is a local painter, sculptor, comic book author, father, husband and all-around awesome guy. He shows off his amazing art work, comic books and more this Saturday at Bookmans Speedway. Bookmans sat down with Adam and asked him 10 QUESTIONS. Enjoy!

What do you love about being artistic?
I like the freedom to create and do what I want.

When did you decide or know that this is what you want to do for a living?
When I was in high school. I failed at all my classes but excelled at art and knew this would be a good future for me!

Who is your favorite artist?
When it comes to comics, I love Prohias. He created Spy vs. Spy!

Your comic is called One Last Day. What is it about and where did you get the inspiration for it?
Each page in the comic tells a story of a generic character's last day alive and of his death in some vague way. I used to be in a death metal band and would read underground punk and metal zines and wanted to do a comic as uncensored and free as those zines were.

Does material naturally come to you or do you have to work at coming up with it?
I work hard by watching Japanese horror movies, sitting on the toilet, and viewing twisted things I see online!

Who is your favorite comic book character?
Spy vs. Spy! I love the black and white, cut and dry and simplicity! Not many artists work in black and white anymore!

Who is your favorite Superhero?
NONE!

Who does your art appeal too?
A lot of people I did not think would enjoy it! Everybody! Weird!

What is your favorite food?
The worst all-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet, any day! There is nothing better than food by the pound! Yum!

What is your favorite thing about Bookmans?
Their openness to independent artists and the wide variety of merchandise. This is the only place my whole family can walk away from with something!

Thanks Adam! Join us and Adam this Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Bookmans Speedway. PeaceLove
