From the creators of Steam Crow and Monster Commute comes an all new approach to Halloween DIY. The New School for Arts and Academics present the first annual Keen Halloween from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 29. Get ready for the macabre and spooky in the world of imaginative do-it-yourself costumes, decorations and best of all parties with Keen Halloween. We guarante you'll leave with so many ideas your head will figuratively explode!

The all-day, all-ages festival encourages attendees to "watch, learn, and get inspired" with informational workshops, a Monster Market (with local artists and creators), an outdoors hands-on Creepy Crafts tent with Bookmans, on-site costume advisors and live entertainment. Event founders Daniel and Dawna Davis of Peoria are Halloween enthusiasts, known for their Steam Crow brand monster illustrated products and passion for spooky art.
"We miss the Halloween from our childhood -- with handmade decorations, costumes and art, gathering together with friends, and enjoying spooky entertainment and music," says Daniel. "We started by trying to find an event like this, but it didn't exist. It's a chance for us to gather together local and West Coast talent -- artists, crafters, teachers and entertainers -- who have a love for the spooky and macabre."
You can participate in all of this plus the "Evil Genius" costume bar, "Iron Skull" costume challenge, "Scarecrow King" photo-booth, and meet Dr. Diabolic all for the low, low pre-purchase price of $7. Don't forget you can also meet the co-creator of "The Happy Tree Friends" Rhode Montijo. He will read his new book Halloween Kid at the Bookmans Creepy Crafts Tent at 1:30 p.m. To learn more about Keen Halloween and to purchase tickets please visit Keen Halloween.
