We're a proud member and supporter of Local First Arizona. With over 1300 members, the LFA organization is currently the largest in the country. LFA provides a network of local, independently own Arizona businesses and supporters by hosting monthly mixers. Our Mesa location was the host of the July Mixer, where we provided a relaxing atmosphere for networking, conversations, and education to newcomers about what it means to have a support system such as Local First Arizona. Many enjoyed a sampling of items from our Bookmans Cafe menu. We were also delighted with the fabulous cupcakes from Kiki's Cupcake Service!

In 2003, Local First Arizona (LFA) started out as Arizona Chain Reaction. While obtaining their 501c3 non-profit status in 2007, they decided to change the name in order to positively define the message ofbuying locally, creating a stronger community, and defining their mission statement which is:
"Local First Arizona seeks to promote, support, and celebrate a vibrant and sustainable Arizona economy by educating citizens about local business ownership, social equity, cultural diversity, environmental kinship, and collaboration."
Local First Arizona strives to create strong community connections while providing top-notch education assistance to businesses, citizens, and government on how to grow our communities participation in sustainable practices. By visiting their website, you'll find an eye-opening case study on the economic impact of buying locally.
The Local First Arizona Small Wonders Map is now being circulated at Phoenix & Mesa Bookmans locations. The Small Wonders map is a pocket-sized guide highlighting destinations in Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, and now Glendale!
Here at Bookmans we appreciate the efforts of Kimber Lanning and the Local First Arizona team! Thank you for sharing your passion with the community.
