"On Christmas eve, many years ago, I lay quietly in my bed. I did not rustle the sheets, I breathed slowly and silently. I was listening for a sound-a sound a friend had told me I'd never hear- the ringing bells of Santa's sleigh" - Chris Van Allsburg. Bookmans Mesa was delighted to present a reading of the classic children's book "The Polar Express" read by the Grand Canyon Railway's Polar express conductor himself!
We all gathered around sipping on our hot chocolate(compliments of our new cafe), as the conductor began the tale. Not one sound was made as the little ones listened intently to this wintery tale of one boy's journey to find the meaning of the holidays. The conductor took us through the twists and turns of the mountainous journey to the Magical North Pole. We all had a pleasant surprise at the end with a visit from Santa and a bag of silver bells from his sleigh. As we were leaving, the conductor magically punched our cards to spell out a message. Now I have to ask...Do you Believe?
