* guest writer Becky B recaps Dr. Diabolic's Traveling Road Show

I was asked to perform a comedy routine at the Phoenix Art Museum for Dr. Diabolic's Traveling Road Show and Fun Time Variety Hour. I decided to serve a Grey Gardens beach look (check the pics, it's fierce). The makeup totally worked. I'm not sure why, but it did.

Upon arrival, I was told that I would be performing with a few other acts -– everything from geek trivia challenges to a screening of Wednesday teaching Lurch a swingin' new dance in The Addams Family. Frankly, I was surprised to see other performers besides myself, but, as I always say, there's no "I" in TEAM. There is an "M" and an "E" in there though. Anyway, I had a marvelous time! Dr. Diabolic and Nurse Narcotica were welcoming and the acts were top-notch. I must personally thank Ernie Quiroz for opening up the museum's stunning theater for us to perform in -– it made for a fancy occasion! The show is very "grassroots" -– DIY, if you will. However, it will continue to grow as this group of creative minds continues to gather and new artists come out to showcase their talents. It's The Gong Show meets MAD TV. Yes, that's a pretty good comparison.

Next month (August 3) should be fetch, since I'm co-hosting, of course. Yes, I'll be there to entertain the masses, grill the crowd and set the stage for style with Dr. Diabolic. I need to figure out what to do with him. I see an empty broom closet, a straightjacket and Duct Tape. I'm not one for sharing the stage. Maybe I should wear a baby bump since Nurse Narcotica will be in the hospital poppin' out the real thing that week.

Becky B. is a sassy female illusionist with an infectious wit! She's taken her love of '80s camp comedy and slasher movies and created Camp Cinema -– a monthly event that gives these films the chance to shine on the big screen, once more.
