Bookmans News
As many local folk know, Bookmans Flagstaff supports local music. We regularly host musicians in our cafe, fund our Music in the Classroom (MIC) program for kids in Head Start, and support festivals like Pickin’ in the Pines.
All day this Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26, some of our favorite local musicians will play music and offer workshops at the Flagstaff Folk Festival put on by Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music and held at the Coconino Center for the Arts. We recommend you check it out.
One of those artists, local legend Tony Norris, plays in our cafe every second Sunday of the month. According to Tony, “for the price of a double latte, you can enjoy over 200 of Arizona’s best folk musicians for two days of blues, folk, jazz, cowboy and oldtime tunes in the cool breezes of Flagstaff.” Tony also tells us there are workshops in instruments, harmony, round singing and storytelling, including ones for beginning performers. We hope to see you out at CCA this weekend in the cool auditorium and the giant pines at the Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff.
