With the start of the new school year, opportunities abound for people looking to marry their passion for reading with their desire to help in the community. People in Tucson can join Literacy Connects as they feature several of their programs (Reading Seed, Literacy Volunteers of Tucson and Reach Out and Read Southern Arizona) for a Volunteer Fair and Back to School Celebration from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 11 at the Literacy Connects main office, 2850 E. Speedway Blvd.

Literady Connects is looking for tutors and coaches to support learners in our community and help bring literacy to life. In addition to new members, current volunteers can bring a friend (or 2 or more) to find a great-fit program to get involved with at Literacy Connects. For every friend you bring, you’ll receive one raffle entry for a chance to win a gift certificate.

Current Reading Seed Coaches can pick up their new journals and game boards for this school year, and there will be plenty of time to connect with other Literacy Connects volunteers and program staff. Light refreshments will be provided.

For more information, please email Brenda Quintero or call 520-882-8006.
