Founded by University of Arizona folklorist and anthropologist Dr. James "Big Jim" Griffith in 1974, Tucson Meet Yourself is an iconic yearly event for locals dedicated to showcasing, preserving and appreciating the traditions of Southern Arizona. This famous downtown event begins this Friday, October 12 and runs until Sunday, October 14 with a variety of events starting in the morning and continuing late into the evening and something for everyone.

Lectures, crafts, live music, dance performances, food, wares and more will pack the downtown area, so be sure to wear shoes fit for walking. This event offers plenty for Tucsonans of all ages and interests. Check out their festival schedule to find something that interests you. There is no admission fee and street parking is free, but be aware that you may have to pay if it's a private lot or parking garage. Tens of thousands flock to the event to enjoy the cooler weather and to patronize local businesses.
Speaking of going local, stop by the Local First Arizona booth (located by the Superior Court building) to see the cents of spending your dollars locally. We believe in the importance of shopping locally and have even dedicated a monthly treasure hunt to it. We'll be there Friday and Sunday showing our support, so stop by and say hello. Here's a map to see where all the events are taking place as well as places to park. Do as Petula Clark says and go Downtown.
