Checkmate! Bookmans Speedway learned how to castle, fork and pin on Saturday, October 13 during our National Chess Day celebration with the 9 Queens. Everyone had strategic fun during our free event cohosted by the 9 Queens Chess Club who focus on educating kids in the ways of chess.

The event was highlighted by a simultaneous chess match where one player squared off against multiple opponents -- and she won! Chess tutorials, crafts and face painting by Silly Tassie rounded out play. From the opening gambit to middlegame 9 Queens taught us that chess playing is no stalemate!
