Sexy Lady Bookworms will create a deck of playing cards graced with photos of women who enjoy reading. SLB believes that reading is sexy and should be celebrated. They also believe that women of all sizes, colors, ages and genres are sexy and should be celebrated. They will sell their cards through a number of venders and the proceeds all go to a literacy charity.

"A friend, Johnny Voodoo of Voodoo Kustoms, and I were joking about the sexy librarian stereotype and I was laughing because real library workers don't look like the assumptions people make, but we're sexy anyway! And then he told me we should do a photo shoot and give the profits to charity and it was like a hallelujah chorus went off in my head. It was a brilliant idea! Only why limit it to librarians? All women that read are sexy!" says SLB Coordinator and Co-Conspirator Rachel Garman.
A portion of the profits from the cards will be donated to Kids Need to Read. "We put out a call for a charity willing to partner with us and they responded in record time. They loved the idea and the project and we loved what they do -- putting books in underfunded libraries and schools is something that's desperately needed and a key component of promoting literacy. Of course, KNtR does so much more than that. They're amazing and we're thrilled to be giving them money!" Rachel says.
SLB is still working on this project and taking photos at local bookstores. "We started with Bookmans and we appreciate everything they did for us so much! They let us do all kinds of kooky stuff in the Speedway location that really helped gather more interest and support. It's hard to see a picture of a smoking hot lady riding a book-cart (in a Star Trek uniform, no less) and not want to come join the fun!"

When they finish the project, they will sell the cards online and in local stores. They are having so much fun and had such an amazing response to their call for models, photographers, hair stylists and makeup that they might do a calendar or another project. Keep up with their adventures on Facebook.
The SLB thanks Bookmans, Mostly Books, Heroes and Villains, the Book Stop, Antigone Books, Liora K Photography, Impulse Nine Media, JSPhotography (a.k.a. the Militant Baker), Electric Tiger Productions, Erin Baker and Kristopher Osuna of Imagine. A Barber Shop and Hair Salon, Cas Bezanson and all their models who volunteered time and energy for this project. Rachel says, "We’ve been really overwhelmed by how many people were willing to help with this project with no other motivation than to promote the awesomeness of reading and benefit a charity."
