Congratulations to those who discovered where we hid our treasure during the last months of Phoenix Spring. In February the Sherlock in you followed the clues to Revera Beauty on Roosevelt Row. In March the treasure crossed freeways into ASU territory at Candy Addict on Mill Ave. April's treasure hunt led followers to BrandX also on Mill Ave (next door to Candy Addict).
February: Revera Beauty on Roosevelt Row has only been open since late winter but is already making a name and home for itself in the historic downtown district. Owners and creators Violet and Susan have taken combined years of expertise and knowledge to breathe new scent into Phoenix. Revera offers natural beauty products created from the freshest and rarest ingredients found all over the globe. They offer essential oils, perfumes, bath salts, lip balms, crèmes, masks and lotions that can be customized to your body's needs. We fell in love with the luxurious Milk Bath ($5 and up) and Vanilla and Peppermint Lip Balm ($10). Violent and Susan can help you spend an entire afternoon savoring rich scents and textures and figuring out what works best for your mind, body and lifestyle. If you decide on a particular product, they can customize the scent to ensure that it truly is your own. The bottles the products call home are fancy! Each container is designed to make your products last longer without icky preservatives and can be traded in through their bottle recycling program, making your carbon footprint smaller and smell better than ever! Stop by Revera Tues-Saturday from 11am-7pm and every third and first Fridays.

March: Candy Addict on 414 Mill Ave., Tempe is a must stop when taking a stroll on the popular college street. This local candy store, established in 2010, immediately impressed Tempe with their great location, colorful store and broad selection of sweet treats. Candy Addict is like the Frankenstein of treat shops because it combines the bits and pieces of other candy stores that we love into a monster of an experience. When we need Swedish Fish, dark chocolate espresso beans and that hard to find candy we remember sneaking out of our grandparents' cookie jars, we head to the place where sweet tooth enthusiasts unite. When owner Frank Ellis moved to Arizona with his wife, he was ready for a new adventure and candy was just the kind of businesses he wanted to be in. It's impressive that in a short amount of time he's expanded the selection to include popular gourmet options such as Cocopotamus (a favorite of Golden Globes gift bags, Academy Awards events and a Rachel Ray favorite). Addict is the only retailer in Arizona to sell that Hollywood favorite and generously let us try a sample that we cannot stop raving about. If we are looking for something rare, we call the experts at Candy Addict first because they are the sugar experts we've been looking for all our lives. Candy Addict is open daily by 11 a.m. so you can start the day right with coffee and candy.
April: We've known about BrandX for quite sometime since they are the exclusive printer of the Local First Arizona's SHIFT campaign T-shirt (you know the one that makes you do a double take: "Get Your SHIFT Together"). If you want a catchy slogan, logo or idea on a T-shirt, students throughout the ASU community will tell you that BrandX is the place to go. Artists flock to the printing shop to get their original work onto something wearable. The folks here specialize in small batches or even one to two shirts orders (unheard of in the T-shirt printing world). Whether you want your idea on a shirt, hoodie, onesie, underwear, beanie, apron or baseball hat, X marks the spot for the place to get it on the cheap -- and with stellar customer service. The people who work at BrandX will sit down in their good-vibes shop to perfectly translate what is on your mind into a wearable item. Once you figure that out, it's time to choose fabrics, colors, fonts and styles. We've known people to spend hours working with their staff to find the perfect match of options to create something unique and special and never once did they seem inpatient or annoyed. Score! We've got T-shirt ideas revolving around upcoming events and naturally we'll be giving our business to BrandX. Keep an eye out in future treasure hunts because you can earn a $5 off coupon from these cool dudes!
Thank you to all of the Local First Arizona businesses who partcipated and get ready, because May is right around the corner and you never know where we'll lead you via @bookmansphoenix.
