Bookman's Blog

This week during our free Summer Kids events we decorated Bookmans T-shirts, celebrated a fabulous Fourth of July and used our powers of deduction with The Phoenix Zoo. Only a few weeks remain and we have plenty more in store for all of our new friends and old.

Bookmans Ina:

Everyone had a fantastic time coloring their "I Love Bookmans" T-shirts. We saw so many great artists in the store! We had shirts decorated with all sorts of designs from wizards and crystal balls to patriotic 4th of July shirts to beautiful rainbows with lots of gorgeous colors. Our pictures on Flickr can only capture a fraction of the fun we had. We're excited for more fun during next week's Movie Day to keep us out of the hot summer sun.

Bookmans Speedway:

Youthful artistry and creativity came out at Bookmans Speedway with our color your own "I Love Bookmans Shirts!" Tons of kids show up on July 4th and got busy decorating. There were a lot of Independence Day-themed shirts with fireworks and America. It was a BLAST! PeaceLove

Bookmans Grant:

Ever since Dustin was a little boy, he LOVED getting new T-shirts. First they were dinosaur shirts, then the "gangsta" style Looney Tunes shirts, followed by band shirts... and that's pretty much where he is today. He gladly shared his love of T-shirts with the kids at the Bookmans Grant Summer Kids Event. We handed out our T-shirts along with fabric markers and asked aspiring fashion designers to do their best. We got some really cool designs and at the end of the event, everyone walked out in style. Go, go, Bookmans T-shirts!

Bookmans Mesa:

It was a rainy Fourth of July but that didn't stop the fireworks or the families from coming out to get a little creative. No wait, A LOT creative! We pulled out the scissors, glue, crayons, stickers and more to create Firecracker Hats for big kids and little to wear for their family Fourth of July celebrations. We also learned how to make pin-wheels out of pencils, paper and push-pins. No one went home without a fantastic new look of red, white and blue. Take a look. Join us again Wednesday for The Three Little Dino's and The Big Bad T-Rex brought to you by The Arizona Museum of Natural History!

Bookmans Phoenix:

We had a blast with Phoenix Zoo's Serena who took us through a detective-style lesson about some fun creatures. She taught us all about scat (a.k.a. "poop"), including what kind of scat certain animals produce and how it can tell us a lot of details about the creature. Serena brought along several furry, scaly and feathered friends and played an interesting game where the kids had to figure out which animal she had hidden in her cage based off the clues. You can visit the Phoenix Zoo all summer during the day or at night and view photos from our event on our Flickr feed.
