Although we spread the #LocalLove all year long, in November we ask our customers to forget Big Box Black Friday and keep it local instead. Visit the neighborhood stores that make our community great. This year Bookmans partners with Local First Arizona to re-launch the Shop Local Twitter Treasure Hunt. Individual Bookmans locations host a week-long treasure hunt highlighting local businesses. Bookmans Flag kicked off the series during the first week of November. Now that the businesses have been revealed, it’s time to share the five all-star businesses that we featured in the Shop Local Give Local Twitter Treasure Hunt.
Flagstaff's Shop Local Treasure Hunt Winner at Purl In The Pines

Monday: Rendezvous
Located on San Francisco street in the heart of downtown, you will find this bar and coffee lounge inside the historic Monte Vista Hotel. This fine Flagstaff establishment is one of many who serve Sedona’s own Firecreek Coffee Company. Later in the day the lovely staff of Rendezvous serves up drinks like their famous Whisky Chai. Yum!
Tuesday: Purl in the Pines
Purl in the Pines offers a plethora of resources for knitting and crocheting enthusiasts. Novices and experts alike enjoy their workshops and classes and shop exceptionally fine locally hand-dyed yarn. Their friendly and helpful staff can help you take on a new project or finally finish that scarf you’ve been working on since last winter. Check out this awesome biz located on 4th St. stop.
Wednesday: Cab Comics
Bookmans has mad love for local comic book store Cab Comics. Not only does Cab offer a variety of comics, including the latest release from DC and Marvel, but is also a huge part of the Flagstaff Community. Located right across from Bookmans Flag, stop in on a Wednesday for New Comic Book Day.
Thursday: Pizzicletta
This local pizzeria offers wood fired pizza that some of us affectionately call the Pie of The Gods. Seriously delicious, at Pizzi (that’s our pet name for it) you can enjoy a slice while sipping on a frothy beverage from the Mother Road Taproom next door.
Friday: Historic Brewing Company
What would be a Flagstaff event without beer? We don’t want to know. Historic makes it their business to serve quality craft beer and awesomeness. Their downtown Barrel and Bottle House not only has brews from Historic but also Flag’s Wanderlust brewery as well as a taproom located on Huntington Dr. known as the Taproom with the T-rex. Stop in you’ll see why.
Shop Local Twitter Treasure Hunt
We had a blast planning the Shop Local Give Local Twitter Treasure Hunt for Flagstaff. Without the help of Local first as well as the countless businesses who donated items and goods to our five prize baskets, we couldn’t have gotten this treasure hunt off the ground. Many local shops and restaurants contributed and made this week long event the success it was.
Big thanks to Cab Comics, Monte Vista Hotel, Purl in the Pines, Pizzicletta, Historic Brewing Company, Mother Road Brewery, Aspen Deli, Flagstaff Community Market, Flagstaff Sports Exchange, Mountain Sports and Bookmans Flag Cafe. All donated and all are awesome. The Shop Local Twitter Treasure Hunt happens all month. Check out the Bookmans events page to see when the hunt takes place in your area.
