Can't leave work in time to catch The Avett Brothers' special 5 p.m. in-store performance at Bookmans Grant this Thursday? KXCI would like to help with that predicament: The one and only Cathy Rivers will be on the premises to introduce the band and the station will be broadcasting the Avetts set LIVE as part of their popular Live at 5 segment.
On February 1st, we kicked off the third Bookmans' Reading Challenge, our annual reading competition for Arizona elementary schools. Three months and over 296,500 books later, we are thrilled to announce that Village Vista Elementary School in Phoenix, Peak Elementary School in Flagstaff, and Sonoran Science Academy-Broadway in Tucson, have each read their way to the grand prize of $5,000 in their respective cities.
Bookmans Phoenix has been nominated by local parents for Best Book Store in 2009 Parents' Picks Awards, sponsored by Nickelodeon. The Parents' Picks Awards is "the only awards program that lets parents (like you!) vote on the best family-friendly resources in their community in 52 cities across the U.S." You don't have to register to vote, so why not vote today? Voting ends on July 15th.
Just a friendly reminder that all Bookmans locations will be have special hours on Monday, May 25th due to Memorial Day. We will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Our most popular in-store events series of the year is back starting May 26th! From now until August, all six Bookmans locations will have a full slate of activities tailored just for kids, every week. And the best part? All of them are absolutely FREE.
If you're a regular customer at Bookmans Mesa, you've probably noticed the progress being made these past few weeks as we head into yet another phase of our remodel (check out our Mesa Remodel gallery in Flickr!). The biggest changes of all have been happening these past few days with the installation of our brand new cambria (a pure, natural quartz) trade and cashier counters. Check 'em out!

Hone your ninja reflexes for an afternoon blow-out at your favorite Bookmans with the long-awaited XBox 360/Street Fighter IV tournament! On Saturday, May 30th, gamers 14 and up can compete for major Bookmans prizes at our five participating locations - Phoenix, Flagstaff, Grant, Ina, and Speedway. Sign-ups will run from 1-2 p.m., with the competition proper beginning promptly at 2 p.m. Spaces are limited!

Bookmans is excited to take part in this year's Devastation 2009, Arizona's largest and longest-running gaming event, celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. This highly respected expo serves as ground zero for gaming enthusiasts and professionals in Arizona and is known for its diversity of programming.
