We'll be enjoying Labor Day ourselves this coming Monday, Sept. 7th, with abbreviated store hours - 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. - at all Bookmans locations, but we still have plenty of activity going on in the stores and the community this weekend.

Southern Arizona's best and most promising Blues musicians will descend upon Club Congress this Sunday at 1 p.m. for the preliminary round in Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation's annual Blues Challenge. A $5 cover (kids 12 and under are free) grants you access to an afternoon of amazing music and entertainment. The finalists from this round of the Challenge will move on to the Finals on September 27th.

Can't Stop the Serenity 2009 - the annual charity event organized and presented by the Arizona Browncoats - kicks off this Thursday, September 17th, at the Loft Cinema in Tucson, followed by two Saturday screenings on September 19th at MADCAP Theaters in Tempe. We asked Jennifer Anderson, Vice Chairman/President of AZB, Inc. and this year's event coordinator, why the CSTS screenings continue to be so popular in Arizona and why you shouldn't miss this year's Serenity/Dr. Horrible double header.

This Friday, September 25th, 8 p.m. at MADCAP Theaters: Bookmans presents a FREE Fight Censorship film screening of Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, based on the controversial classic by Anthony Burgess, and starring Malcolm McDowell. Bookmans will be on hand to raffle off Fight Censorship t-shirts and gift cards.
