With all the updates on streaming music services, people are starting to wonder if purchasing physical copies of albums have now become obsolete.  Let’s be honest when was the last time you purchased an actual CD? What use to be the norm with most us having collections of CDs in our home, cars and bags has now turned into some albums ONLY being available digitally. And while convenience makes a good argument for buying an album online, we are firmly on the side of the CD. Like what has now been deemed the Vinyl Revival we are cheering for CDs to be the next comeback kid. Here are a few reasons why physical copies still matter.

Grant 10-15 Lo Res CDs

One of the best parts of buying a new album is the shopping experience itself. Whether perusing the music section at your local Bookmans or stopping in to your fave indi record shop, being around countless albums that you can see, feel and, if your into it, smell is reason enough. Having a physical copy to hold in your hands You can’t help but share it with your friends and fellow music lovers.

Remember buying a CD as a kid and being able to read all the lyrics in that small booklet inside the case? That information haven had photos from shows and recording sessions, and you would sit in your room completely absorbing it all. Well why not do that as an adult? Spend an afternoon listening to a album straight through, reading along with the lyrics thinking about what inspired the artist to write each song. We guarantee you won’t regret it.

Browsing does take effort, but the results are priceless. Whether you’re on a mission to find a certain album or just browsing for something new, perusing stacks of CDs, looking at the cover art, maybe sampling a song or two allows you to get lost in the best way possible. You never know, you might find your next favorite record.

A physical copy gives a sense of ownership, no purchased albums mysteriously disappearing from your music library on your phone after an update- Which does happen! It also allows fans to display their musical selection. CD’s offer a connection between an artist and their fans. Not to mention you can’t autograph a digital download! You could be off downloading a new album right now, who knows. We all value things differently, maybe one day CD’s will become cool again, like vinyl. Until then, We’ll proudly be buying and selling CD’s until they become extinct.
