Asphalt Astronaut is an ambient pop music artist from Tucson, AZ. Her works focus on creating an immersive, and sometimes dark, audioscape, which she does through recording and producing all her own work. Often described as “pensive” or “melancholy”, Asphalt Astronaut blends talented lyricism with layered vocals and instrumentation to create her unique sense of atmosphere. Her debut album, Antares (2020), was a shy venture into sharing her voice for the first time with a stripped-down collection of folk-style songs. Asphalt Astronaut’s second album, andromeda (releasing 10.17.21), is a departure from the indie-folk style of her first album– it is haunting, immersive, and explores the sacrifice of self and others through the lens of folklore and fantasy. The eponymous first single ‘andromeda’ was released in July 2020 to a warm reception and will be followed by ‘gin + tonic’ (08.17) and ‘kelpie queen’ (09.17).
