How is a poem different than a story/prose? Isn’t poetry a dying art? What’s the difference between an open mic and a slam? In this panel poets and organizers, M McDonough and Joy Young give an insider’s guide to navigating the vast world of poetry and answer your questions—seriously, ask us anything!
M. McDonough is a queer trans poet living in Phoenix, AZ. Their work hinges on questions of embodiment, the limitations of language, grief and desire. Their poems can be found in Suspect Press, Exposition Review, We Grow Anyway, Defunct Magazine, and elsewhere.
Joy Young is a performance and teaching spoken word artist based in Phoenix, Az. Their works has been featured on Button Poetry and Everyday Feminism as well as on stages and in colleges and classrooms across the country. They are also the co-founder and editor of Prickly Pear Printing.
