Join Lil Miss Hot Mess for a special reading of her latest picture book, If You’re a Drag Queen and You Know It — a fun, sing-along book with a drag twist that encourages kids to embrace all the playfulness of drag culture at the Museum of Contemporary Art! Sing along to the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know It” in this playful celebration of expressing your brightest and boldest self. If you’re a drag queen and you know it, let it show by winking, shaking your bum, laughing real big, twirling around, and more!

Lil Miss Hot Mess is the author of the children’s books If You’re a Drag Queen and You Know It (Running Press Kids, 2022) and The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish (2020) and serves on the board of Drag Queen Story Hour. She has also appeared on world-class stages at SFMOMA, Stanford University, and on Saturday Night Live, was a founding organizer of the #MyNameIs campaign that challenged Facebook’s “real names” policy, and her writing has been published in The GuardianWired, and Salon. When not twirling, Lil Miss Hot Mess works as a professor at the University of Arizona.

Books will be available for purchase at the Museum of Contemporary Art at the Bookmans booth.

This event is free and open to the public. Museum admission will be waived for event attendees. No registration required.
