Though we may not realize it, poets manipulate our perceptions through the use of line breaks. Images are paired with other images on the line; sounds are merged with other sounds; cadences are created; foreign concepts are united; pedestrian concepts are riven and disrupted. This work startles us as readers, impregnates the poem with new meanings, and/or creates musicality. In this workshop, we’ll look at different masterful uses of line breaks and practice implementing those into our work. Bring poems you’d like to work on and a laptop or pencil/paper.
