**CONTEST CLOSED** PoeFest 2017 is the ninth annual celebration of the stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe held every October in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. If you have not yet experienced this amazing event, this is your chance! The actors not only memorize Poe’s stories, they transform into characterizations of inmates in Poe’s fictional Maison de Santé Asylum. Bookmans Entertainment Exchange is proud to be a sponsor of this eerie event celebrating the bard of Baltimore himself, Edgar Allan Poe. PoeFest was created by Arizona Curriculum Theater (ACT). ACT is a 501(c)(3) educational charity that connects the arts to curriculum in local schools. By integrating the arts into lesson plans, students become more engaged while learning about science, math, literature, reading, or history. The Tell-Tale Heart is hands down the scariest story I’ve ever heard. And the idea that truth will out still informs my life.
My favorite E.A. Poe story is a tie between the Cask of Amontillado and The Tell-Tale Heart!
The Tell Tale Heart gives me the chills every time I read it. I become like Hook with the sound of a clock after reading!
Even though it’s cliché, I really love The Raven. It’s creepy but also more sad and melancholy than some of his other stories. One of my favorite musicians did an album of himself reading Poe stories and I like to listen to him readinging me The Raven before bed while I wind down from Halloween shenanigans.
