*****Contest Closed*****
They can make your hands clap. They can make you jump around. And now they are coming to Tempe’s Marquee Theatre Wednesday, July 27th. Who are they you ask? Why, none other than Fitz & The Tantrums! Oh, here we go! These tickets are going for $20-$30 online, but we are offering 2 tickets for general admission to one lucky winner completely free, courtesy of Bookmans. We can assure you that this is more than just a dream. It’s a Ticket Tuesday!
Formed in 2008 from Los Angeles, California. Fitz & The Tantrums have blasted through our airwaves with hits such as “Out of My League“, “HandClap” and “Fools Gold“. The band consists of lead singer Michael Fitzpatrick, co-lead vocals and percussion Noelle Skaggs, saxophone, flute, keyboard, percussion and guitar player James King, bass guitar player Joseph Karnes, keyboard extraordinaire Jeremy Ruzumna and drums/percussion player John Wicks. This power team has a “captivatingly crazy” sound that is both original and has a real message about love and acceptance. In a recent interview the lead singer, Michael Fitzpatrick describes one of the band’s songs “HandClap” as a primal tale of love and lust and a call to arms in the late hours of the night. That it is the X-rated version of ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ happening on the dance floor. We don’t know about you, but we’re on board.
To enter our Ticket Tuesday giveaway, tell us in the comments section below about your favorite concert experience. Whether it’s the first concert you ever attended, or a concert where you created amazing memories, we want to know! We will select a winner using random.org. When I first met my future wife in 2000, we went out on dates to movies. A lot. We finally decided to attend a concert and she told me about Willie Nelson. I’ve never heard of him or listened to Country music. I finally went and I was going to a bar for the concert, bunch of Cowboys and people dressed in wranglers. Never had I been around that. Let alone listen to Willie. Needless to say, I didn’t know any songs of his and went along with it. To this day, my wife and I are still together and laugh at that day of me putting up with it. And yes, I listen to country now as well.
My favorite concert experience was my 1st year of college with my boyfriend Andrew seeing Taking Back Sunday. It was an exciting time in life!
My first concert was Stevie Wonder at the Assembly Hall in Champaign, IL. The opening act was Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. I was in high school and too young to drive, so my dad drove me and a friend to the show, and waited for us in a fast food parking lot. Stevie blew us away and we were bonded with those around us by the uplifting sound. That night started a love affair with live music that continues to this day.
Viva Phoenix was one of my favorite experiences! I went not knowing what to expect and had such a great time hearing a great selection of bands I had previously not heard of.
