All around Arizona, families are having a blast at our Bookmans Free Summer Kids Events. This past week, we celebrated going green, star gazing, misbehaving puppets and saying “aloha.” Take a look at all the fun to be had and check our Event Calendar for the next free event near you!

Kid Paint

Bookmans Flagstaff
Families in Flagstaff got scientific with help from Lowell Observatory. Kicking off our Free Summer Kids Events, the Kids’ Corner became a science lab complete with experiments and something called “spectroscopy”. Kids learned about electrons and what makes stars. What a great start to the summer! Check more fun with science in our Flickr album.

Bookmans Mesa
Mesa may be in the Sonoran Desert, but kids got a chance to check out the Hawaiian Islands. Families created colorful leis made of paper flowers inspired by our friends at the Arizona Aloha Festival. Take a look at our Flickr album for all the great photos.

Bookmans Phoenix
The Great Arizona Puppet Theater made a stop in Phoenix to the delight of kids and parents alike. Families watched as two rascally rodents caused a raucous in the adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s classic tale Two Bad Mice. Hijinks and hilarity ensued during the fun presentation in a larger-than-life dollhouse that doubled as a stage. See more in our Flickr album!

Bookmans Speedway, Grant and Ina
Families all around Tucson learned about “Going Green” last week. Bookmans loves green things so we had a Paint It and Pot It Party. Kids gathered at all three Tucson Bookmans locations to express their creativity and hone their green thumbs. Each child was given a clay pot to paint and the results were exciting. Some of the painters chose to mirror the flower theme and created flowers and garden scenes on their pots. Others decides to be more avant garde, these creations were abstract, multicolor shapes. Many of the children went with repeating and complementary hues to accent the flowers that would soon sprout within. Pots were filled with soil and a seed was placed gently inside. Kids had a great time painting and went home with a plant to nurture and grow. See all the fun in our Flickr album!
