The Arizona Underground Film Festival is Arizona’s only premier genre cult film festival, and one of the biggest underground film festivals in the country! We are now celebrating our 9th year from September 16th to the 24that The Screening Room at 127 E. Congress in the heart of downtown Tucson.

We will be screening world premieres, North American premieres and Arizona premieres, along with several local Tucson filmmakers premiering their work for the very first time. Including the post-apocalypse film Gun Driver, the horror comedy Knock, Knock, and The Trolls which was filmed in Tucson and has gone on to gain national attention on CNBC and Bloomburg for its attention on patient trolls. Filmmakers will be in attendance for Q&A after the films.

Alien abductee Travis Walton, whose experience was documented in the book and film Fire in the Sky is coming to the festival with his new film, Travis: The True Story of Travis Walton. This is a great chance to meet Travis Walton and ask him questions about his film and experience. He will be at the festival on September 17th at 1pm. This is a do-not-miss event.

We will be having the North American premiere of the dark comedy Sweet Girls and the Arizona premiere of Freak Out, a film following Rabies, Big Bad Wolves, and Jeruzalem from the burgeoning Israeli fright-film scene, which is influenced by horror and thriller movies from the 70’s and relates to renowned Israeli genres like ‘Bourekas’ films from the 70’s and 80’s.

Many more films including the comedy Bear With Us, and the critically acclaimed thriller Parasites (think Judgment Night meets Escape from NY meets Jeremiah Johnson) will be shown at the Arizona Underground Film Festival.

Individual tickets are $8, and a festival pass to see all the films for one price is only $45. Luckily it’s your chance to get in for free through Bookmans! Bookmans and the Arizona Underground Film Festival are giving away two weekend passes for you and friend. To enter, simply tell us in the comments below what film you are most excited to see. The winner will be chosen using Random.org. We will allow 24 hours for commenting and winners will be notified via email on Thursday September 15th. Comments are moderated and may take some time to appear.
