#AwesomeAlert | Tucson Community Partners!
It’s no secret that Bookmans LOVES animals. We can’t help but get excited when a customer brings their lovable four-legged friend into one of our stores. From dogs to cats to lizards and birds, PETS ROCK! That’s why we allow friendly pets on a leash to hang at our stores and we dedicate the entire month of July to celebrating our K9 companions. We invite local pet adoption organizations and community partners to our stores for an array of free events geared towards a healthy and happy fido. We’d love to take some time and introduce just a couple of the awesome community groups and organizations doing great work right here in Tucson. So without further ado, here are some of Bookmans animal welfare besties.
The Desert Tortoise Adoption Program at The Arizona-Senora Desert Museum.
Did you know you can adopt a desert tortoise? It’s true! Sanctioned by the Arizona Game and Fish Department, qualified individuals can bring a desert museum home as a desert custodian. But don’t get it confused, being a desert tortoise custodian is a serious job and the tortoise remains the property of the state. If you are curious about how to become a tortoise custodian head to Tortoise Adoption Program website.
A Loyal Companion Canine Swim and Recreation Center
If you have a pup in the desert, you know how difficult it is to keep fido occupied during the hot summer months. Walks, trips to the park, and fetch can all be problematic when the sun is high. So what’s a pet parent to do? Head to A Loyal Companion where you will find and indoor pool and recreation center sure to keep your pups tail wagging. Not only that, but their training and vet services make this place a one stop shop for you and yours.
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona
As the oldest and largest non-profit servicing animals in Southern Arizona, The Humane Society of Southern Arizona offers pet adoptions, micro-chipping, affordable spay and neuter services, and so much more. Whether you are looking to find a new FURever friend or need affordable health care for your current pup, The Humane Society works tirelessly to improve the lives of pets and their owners in Southern Arizona.
This is just a small sampling of some of the awesome animal welfare groups right here in Tucson! We highly recommend that you visit these amazing organizations and we also suggest you attend the Bookmans Midtown Dog Days of Summer Pet Adoption Event. This event takes place on Saturday, July 8th from 10am to 2pm. Get to know all three of the above organizations and meet lots of adoptable pets in need of a new home. Happy Dog Days of Summer!
