Support the arts and connect with the community! This spring, Bookmans is out and about in the local neighborhood at some of the coolest cultural events that Phoenix has to offer. We’re presenting early literacy outreach storytimes at Phoenix Public Market on the last Saturday of each month. We’re also a part of Phoenix Art Museum’s Discount Tire Free Family Weekend on the second Saturday of each month. And to top it off, Bookmans is a part of Wednesday Wind Up, a fun and free event on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month hosted by City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department Latino Institute at Civic Space Park. By bridging Central Phoenix and the Downtown area with our Bookmans Phoenix neighborhood in the Northwest Valley, our goal is to circulate great ideas throughout our metropolis, while promoting Arizona-grown businesses and non-profit organizations.

Fridays In the Park

•Open Air Market at Phoenix Public Market

Explore all the local wares, tastes and treasures that the Open Air Market boasts! Located at Phoenix Public Market, this community event takes place every Saturday. Catch Bookmans Family Storytime on the last Saturday of each month at the Market. We will have song, stories and interactive activities for little ones (and grown ups) of all ages.

•Discount Tire Family Weekend at Phoenix Art Museum

What an awesome way to tour the Phoenix Art Museum – for free! Check out all the art and activities each month at the Discount Tire Family Weekend at Phoenix Art Museum. Be sure to venture to the Library and join us for Bookmans Family Storytime on the second Saturday of each month. The theme of storytime changes to reflect the exhibits at the museum, so there’s always something new to sing, dance or create!

•Wednesday Wind Up (WWU) at Civic Space Park

WWU takes place at Civic Space Park each second and fourth Wednesday of each month. This free event combines live music, outdoor movies, spoken word poetry, food trucks and community partners. Bookmans is always on site with our information and giveaways. In addition to WWU, Bookmans Phoenix and the City of Phoenix partner on Rad Reads, an event that takes place at Bookmans Phoenix once a month. Rad Reads hosts local music, literacy and learning activities all in one spot.

Now that the Metro Light Rail is complete, a shiny new train runs between The Phoenix Public Market, Phoenix Art Museum, Civic Space Park and Bookmans Phoenix. Be sure to take advantage of the awesome public transportation that’s just a quick jaunt from the corner of 19th Ave. and Northern to the heart of Downtown. We look forward to seeing you!
