Paul Tiller totally rocked our electronics department for the past 3 years, but with his vast knowledge and complete passion for music, it was a no brainer to name him the new head honcho for the instrument department. We have total confidence in Paul’s treble shooting, but we’ll let him speak for himself.

do you accept piano’s for trade in? I am interested in trading an upright Kohler & Campbell piano for an acoustic guitar.
Hi Julie, Space is the biggest concern when we make an offer on a piano, so the ultimate decision has to be made in the store at the time. The financial concerns weigh heavily as well. Every time a piano is moved, it has to be tuned which costs between $90 and $120. Additionally we’re finding that upright pianos seldom sell for more than $350 even when they’re in great shape (in part due to the affordability and availability of electronic keyboards). When we do the math on our cost for an upright versus what we can sell it for, that’s a slim margin. I know this sounds pessimistic, but I encourage you to call your nearest Bookmans to see if they are interested in taking a look at your piano. It may be that you hit us at just the right time and the negotiations work out to everyone’s favor. I hope this is the case.
