Sorry, not sorry your drag story hour was postponed. I’m hoping this, and other events like it, are not only postponed, but cancelled altogether.
Why? What is your fear about costumed performers reading to children?
Why do you need to read to very young children? Why not adults. It’s the first step in confusing our children. Continue your shoes for adults and leave the children alone
Hi
I’m a Bookmans fan. I have been for many years but this decision to cancel the Drag Book reading because the Church members would protest is wrong and a reaction of fear as you are making an assumption that your employees and others shops would be in danger. You are succuming to a bully. Let them protest. It’s a constitutional right and as a business you have the right to serve whom you like and to conduct business as you see fit and there is nothing anyone but the licensing bureau can do to change that. Put on the show. Don’ t bow to fear. Let me know how can I help.
I don’t think it’s because employees are in danger…I think you are íntroducing children to Adult things. Kids Do Not need to be read to by a man dressed as a woman..Cmon the kids will be focusing on him and not the story being told. You all know that . You’re allowing sexual preference be worn out loud. Kids do not need to learn about this until they are older. Allowing anyone to read to children, is ridiculous. Leave the drag at home or for adults somewhere else. The dude in the dress isn’t doing it for the kids .. That’s Not why they do it…
Awaiting moderation is leftist code for censorship
I have a question. Does Bookman’s promote explicitly heterosexual role models during story hour for children? If not, and I am happy you don’t, why do you feel the urgency to promote: “glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models”? It’s easy to see why so many people would object to a literacy program being conducted with an emphasis on normative sexuality, let alone one emphasizing aberrant sexuality. Is the true focus simply on literacy?
How can a supposedly “Christian” church cooperate with a known terrorist organization like the Proud Boys?
I have several boxes of CDs and DVDs that I was going to bring to Bookman’s, but the idea that they would even consider hosting a drag queen story hour changed my mind. Highly sexualized men dressed as garish caricatures of women have no business anywhere near children. These events are blatant attempts to indoctrinate children. These adults should be ashamed. I will take my stuff to Zia.
omg gurly give them to me ill put them to good use
Diane im waiting for your reply soon im also against this whole thing btw zia records does support this kinda thing there as well just not as open about it.
For those that oppose, don’t come that day. You know when it is scheduled. Just because your views are different doesn’t mean they are right. Just having someone read to the kids is awesome, they don’t care! Unless you want to volunteer your time, you should have no say to those who do.
Wow! People really need to get their act together! What is the problem with people dressed in drag reading to children? Children love to use their imagination to create inventive costumes that blur assumptions about gender stereotypes. People who incite violence in protest of such events really need to grow up.
