These days it’s common knowledge that July 31 is Harry Potter’s birthday. We are all a little crazed for the boy wizard. It’s safe to say that as a whole, the Bookmans family is made up of full-blown Potter heads. Bookmans Flagstaff celebrated the famous wizard’s birthday and kicked off August Movie Madness month with a Very Potter Party. We transformed the entire store into our version of J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter. We encouraged customers to dress up like their favorite Harry Potter character and had plenty of Potter-themed activities.

First stop was Platform 9 3/4 where you could board the Hogwarts Express to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Before you could attend classes like defense against the dark arts, you had to be sorted into houses by the Bookmans Sorting Hat. Ending the inner turmoil as to whether you are a Gryffindor or a Slytherin. Golden snitches were hidden throughout the store. If you were lucky enough to catch one, you received a prize from Bookmans. Moaning Myrtle, our ever depressed and ghostly friend stopped by to join in the fun, though she had a blast she couldn’t understand why everyone found her so comical. Beware enemies of the heir for the Chamber of Secrets had been opened and all of us muggle born were at risk of being petrified. If you had recently escaped Azkaban Prison, your picture could be taken at the “Have you seen this wizard?” photo booth.

Everyone got in on the fun as the entire Bookmans store became truly magical. Staff and customers decked out in wizard robes and hats and practiced their spells while sipping butterbeer. Happy birthday Harry! Now, if only my Hogwarts letter would arrive.
