Some might say this is debatable, but in my book, Logic has been one of the most under-rated rappers in the industry. Haven’t heard of him? Believe me when I say that he shouldn’t be ignored. I’ve continued to follow Logic as he progressively made his way into the hip-hop scene. He recently released his third official album, Everybody, which touches on current issues in the world from race to mental health, and everything in-between. If you have yet to unpack this album, let me offer some suggestions with a breakdown of my top songs.

Track 5. “Take It Back”
Logic takes a moment to paint a picture of his early years and the thoughts and feelings that came along with it. He talks about  his abusive mother and having a lack of a father figure. Both parents were addicted to various narcotics, while also living in violent and hard conditions growing up. Basically Logic is presenting his own biography while spreading the message of peace, love, positivity and most importantly, equality. I definitely give Logic well-deserved respect for this track.

Track 10. “1-800-273-8255”
This track features artist Alessia Cara and Khalid. Without a doubt, I have to give a shout out to them for this track. This is probably my favorite song on the album so far, and in my opinion, one of the most important tracks of 2017.  The title of the track is the number to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This track brings attention to how hard depression and thoughts of suicide can be and that we aren’t alone in these feelings. There is light even when you are lost in the dark. If you need help, please reach out.

Track 13. “AfricAryan”
The last track, wrapping up the 71 minute album, spotlights Logic’s struggles as a bi-racial citizen who experiences discrimination from both African-Americans and Caucasians. The last 2 minutes features a surprisingly familiar voice. Recognize it? It’s J. Cole offering a bit of advice to Logic and both of their fans. He shares that the past is the past and that it is most important to love and value yourself, no matter what anyone thinks or says.

To check out all of the tracks, keep your eyes peeled for Logic’s Everybody in our stores. You can call ahead to see if we carry it and also hit up our employees for other recommendations.
