Modded and Refurbished Consoles from Bookmans
Coming Black Friday 11/29/24! While supplies last, availability is very limited
At Bookmans, we’re all about breathing new life into the things we love, and now that includes video games and consoles. Retro gaming holds a special place in our hearts, but let’s face it—some of these cherished devices are really starting to show their age. Take the NES, for example. Released in North America in 1985, this beloved piece of gaming history is 40 years old! In the world of electronics, it’s incredible that any of them still work. But sadly, countless others of these retro consoles have reached the end of their life cycle—or have they?
Our talented video game repair tech, Sam, has been on a mission this year to rescue as many clasic consoles and handhelds as possible. And these aren’t just simple repairs. Sam has transformed these devices into something better than new, and we’re thrilled to announce that his first batch of modded and refurbished consoles are about to hit our stores!
You might be asking, what exactly is a “modded or refurbished console”? The term can mean a few different things, but at Bookmans, it represents a commitment to quality and creativity. Each console undergoes a complete teardown, ultrasonic cleaning, and replacement of aging components like electrolytic capacitors. Many get a fresh new “shell” that highlights how special these are. The Gameboys have been modded with modern screens with upscaling options and more special features. All of these consoles have been fully serviced, thoroughly tested, and are ready for their next chapter.
One thing to note: while the word “modded” sometimes implies a capability for piracy, rest assured that’s not the case here. These consoles are all about celebrating and preserving gaming history, not undermining it.
Whether you’re a seasoned retro gaming enthusiast or looking to explore the classics for the first time, these refurbished consoles are the perfect way to dive in. Say goodbye to finicky cartridges and hard-to-see screens, and say hello to a seamless, nostalgia-filled gaming experience.
Join us in preserving the artifacts of gaming history and keeping the memories alive for years to come. Swing by Bookmans and grab a piece of retro gaming magic this Black Friday and keep your eyes peeled for all the cool new stuff we have planned!

Hoping someone can help (before I come down to the store, which I’m always happy to do!)
My husband wants a flight simulator. I found one that could work on a PC, but he doesn’t have a gaming PC, so now I’m looking for a used Xbox system that could handle a flight simulator. I know nothing about Xbox, but I assume it would have to be a relatively newish one to be able to run a new program like a flight simulator. Hoping for a deal on a used system.
Hey Karen, give us a call and we will be happy to recommend a console and let you know what we have in stock. Thanks!
Can I bring in unusual items like vintage board games, handcrafted jewelry, or unique art pieces to sell at Bookmans Entertainment Exchange?
Yes you can! If you have specific questions about our process or what we are looking for, please give your preferred location a call. Thanks!
Hi, it came up this Christmas that my husband never received the $40 gift card my son bought him for Christmas 2023. I wrapped it, so it must have gotten lost in the shuffle of presents and wrap on Christmas morning. We are packing away our decorations, and I just now found the receipt for that purchase. Is there any way you can replace the lost card from that information? I know it wasn’t used, and had to have been thrown out accidentally. The other $40 gift card on the receipt went to his sister, and she received and spent hers. I’m hoping you can replace the $40 card that should have gone to my husband.
Hello Susan, I’m sorry to hear that went missing. I would call or visit the location you purchased the gift card from and ask to speak with management to see if they are able to help.
