Retro and Vintage Equipment for Retro and Vintage Entertainment
Technology is wonderful. We live in a charmed age where information and technology has never been easier to access. This almost magical ability to enjoy a variety of media does not exclude appreciating the good stuff from the past. Vintage and retro machines are still available to enjoy. When was the last time you looked through a View Master? Do you know what a View Master is? Some toys and equipment allow us to access entertainment that predates our awareness of pop culture and entertainment and does so in a charming and unique way. Bookmans Speedway is the store to explore retro and vintage equipment for retro and vintage entertainment. Take a look at the wonders of the ’60s and ’70s (and possibly older).
Let’s start with VHS tapes. These, like vinyl records, are enjoying a renaissance. Bookmans Speedway has a varied selection including Peter Cushing’s Doctor Who: Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. How better to enjoy this classic BBC creation than on VHS? How about an American take on British theater with Orson Wells and Roddy McDowall in Macbeth? Get weird with Alien Nation: Prepare Yourself, where Los Angeles is home to 300,000 humanoid extraterrestrials. Back on this planet you can see Chuck Norris in Good Guys Wear Black or Sports Illustrated Football Follies. Stan Lee Presents The Comic Book Greats: Whilce Portacio and Priscilla Queen of the Desert are great ways to explore vintage classics.
Like music? Check out our extensive tape cassette and vinyl record collections. We also have the equipment needed to play these. We have retro turntables and manufacturers have re-released many classic stereo systems with modern features. We currently have a combination turntable, CD and cassette player, AM/FM radio with CD recorder. This unit includes an aux in port for iPod or iPhone use. You can record from vinyl to CD with recording features like track increment, erase and finalize.
No party is complete without a Polaroid camera. We have several. We are especially proud of our Polaroid 230 with built in case. Explore a world of retro and vintage finds and treasures that exposes you to artists not yet released in other formats. Stop by today to get the best of the past.
* Bookmans is your store to explore. We can’t guarantee stock so if you are interested in a particular vintage or retro item, please give us a call and we’ll check our orange shelves for you. Otherwise, we hope you will come and browse.

The 2nd is an Panasonic Video Video Cassette Recorder, AG-1970 Pro-Line (AG-1970P) also in excellent working condition. Unfortunately we can’t give you a quote or guarantee over the internet, so your best bet is to call the stores and see if they have a better idea of what specific items they would be able to take. That info can be found at bookmans.com/stores. Thanks for reaching out to us and have a great day!
