The fall weather is finally starting to creep in. With the days getting shorter and the nights cooling down, there’s no better time than autumn to fall in love with Bookmans all over again. We are all about celebrating the fall and that includes spooky events for children and adults to partake in and haunting displays full of goodies to peruse. Let us show you why it’s hard not to fall in love with your local Bookmans store in October!

Events abound in Arizona once the wind gets gusty and the leaves turn gold and red, and Bookmans is out in the community making connections. Down in Tucson, the Southern AZ team will be at RinCon Gaming 2019, at Tucson Meet Yourself, and the AYSO Soccerfest too. There’s also a major Tucson event that we’re thrilled to be a part of! The Tucson Humanities Festival is a celebration of the impact of humanities topics in our cities and this year they challenge everyone to ponder: What’s next?

Last year, the TCF welcomed author Colson Whitehead (The Underground Railroad) for their showcase event, and this year another author will be highlighting the impact of humanities in our culture and community. Bookmans is thrilled to be a sponsor of TCF and excited for their 2019 featured event Puro Amor: A Reading with Sandra Cisneros (The House on Mango Street). Even cooler is the pre-event happening at Bookmans Midtown in collaboration with the UA Poetry Center, Urban Poetry Pollinators, and TCF on October 5. Participants can enter to win tickets to the Sandra Cisneros Puro Amor reading on October 24!

Up in the Valley and further north in Flagstaff, Bookmans will be at Oktoberfest in Wheeler Park and at the Pumpkin Walk at the Arboretum at Flagstaff. Our Phoenix crew will be at the Desert Botanical Garden for their Garden Mixtape 80s event. You can also catch Bookmans Mesa at HeatSync Labs and create Dia de Los Muertos ornaments. Of course, we wouldn’t want to forget about PoeFest! Though Bookmans won’t be there in person, we’re still there in spirit with the Student Writing Competition we sponsor each year.

Did someone say Midnight Madness? If you’re in Tucson, that’s all you’ll be talking about in October! On October 19, Bookmans Midtown is celebrating the Tucson community with a seriously amazing Midnight Madness event and sale. Just like the Midnight Madness event in Flagstaff, there will be non-stop fun and frivolity to keep you busy while you shop the ever-increasing Bookmans sale! There will be food trucks, children’s entertainment, gaming, prizes, ticket giveaways, trivia, music, animals, and SO MUCH MORE is being added every day! We want to make sure that Tucson has the best time ever. Of course, scoring up to 40% off your purchase is already pretty great, right?! There’s no better way to fall in love with Bookmans this autumn!

Your kids won’t have to be bored during Fall Break either. Both Bookmans Mesa and Northwest are having Fall Break events to keep kids of all ages entertained with everything from sugar skull painting to free video games all day. Later in the month, Bookmans Phoenix will also be having a sugar skull craft for adults and children alike. Bookmans East welcomes author Jessica Feinberg for the release of her new book Summoning Creatures. Prefer to do your reading with a lightsaber? Great – check out the Star Wars Reads event at our Flagstaff store.

What are we doing to celebrate Halloween? A whole lot! In Phoenix, you can check out the horror-themed storytime and craft event. Tabletop and chill at the Arkham Horror tabletop game night at Button Brew House. Got some mini-monsters who can’t wait to try their Halloween costumes out? Bring them to the Mini Monster Mash at Bookmans Flagstaff. The Tucson Ghost Company is joining Bookmans East to send chills down your spine. Don’t forget to come in wearing a costume to be entered to win some prizes – including family passes to Tucson Comic-Con (which Bookmans is sponsoring)!

More Halloween fun to fall in love with? Yes, please! Northwest and Phoenix are having Spooktacular events including a spooky storytime and Halloween fun. In Mesa, the Sonoran Surfers are stopping by for a Halloween music show. The night before Halloween, be sure to swing by Bookmans Phoenix for to enter their costume contest and get crafty! At East there’s going to be a special Spooky Drag Queen Story Hour as well so your little ones can dress up and enjoy a story!

Don’t worry – we’ve still got all of those monthly Bookmans events too like storytimes, book club, Magic the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, animal rescues, video game tournaments, live musicians, family board game nights, ukulele lessons, and yes, even more in store! To get the full scoop on our events both in and out of our Bookmans stores, visit our event page. We’ll see you at Bookmans!
